Placebo @ the Hordern '06

Mascara. Black clothing. Pippi Longstocking tights. And that's just the boys.

Rena, Soph & I dressed in our matching Sigur Ros t-shirts (totally unplanned) saw a seething black mass of punk, pop-punk, goth, metal, post-punk people at last night's Placebo concert.

Howling Bells (formerly Waikiki) was the support, and although I'm not a huge fan, I enjoyed 'Velvet Girl' & 'Broken Bones'. Good performance, just not really my cup of tea.

We got seats - we did want to stand near the front, but the pit was really rough, with people who were almost suffocating being passed up to the front. And plus we weren't tall enough to compete with the platform Doc Martens of the goths.

We had a FANTASTIC view. Placebo kicked off with 'Meds' and a few other songs from their new album.

But we were waiting for their older stuff. 'Black-Eyed', 'Every You, Every Me', 'The Bitter End' and 'Special K' were sooooo good, and everyone was so hyped. I wish they played Protege Moi though. My FAVOURITE was 'Special Needs' an anthem for all 19-year-old film students.

Two encores! And they finished up with 'Twenty Years', which was a nice, melancholic end to a fantastic night.
