big day out #3

... And then the Presets launched into 'Down Down Down'
But let's start at the beginning shall we? We (Soph, Johanna, Rena and I) arrived at Sydney Showground and were tortured by a DJ switching frantically between Kelly Clarkson and Crazy Frog.
The Presets were SO awesome, and the first act of the day for us. I love the Presets. There was this planned sideshow of Mylo and the Presets at Home and I would have gone in a heartbeat. But then Mylo had to go and get a virus :(
We had lunch at the Green Stage whilst listening to Youth Group. How good is 'Forever Young'?!
Afterwards me and Rena trawled the markets - where Rena picked up the cutest red shoulder bag and I got myself a ring.
Went back to the Green Stage for Sleater-Kinney, who are really good live - but then again they're veterans so whaddya expect?
We went to the Blue Stage for Wolfmother, who were, in a word, awesome. I love each and every one of their songs. Loved "Joker and the Thief" - more so than "Woman".
Next up were Kings of Leon, but we didn't get to stay there long, and me and Rena went exploring again. We ventured back into the Boiler Room, but Soulwax was playing and we're like "ugh, no!"
We returned for Franz, and how GOOD were they?! I still can't get over Yuye's story about how she met Alex Kapranos at the sideshow and he recognised her on a bus to Newtown?! Who isn't half in love with Alex? I LOVED it when the crowd sang 'Take Me Out' - one of the worthiest winners of Triple J Hottest 100. Wasn't too impressed with this years winner, though.
Um... what did we do after that? Oh yeah ... we went for a little walk and Kid Kenobi was playing ... guess what? Bloc Party! And of course we had to stay a little while :)
Afterwards we went and saw The White Stripes. But something was wrong with the sound - there had been problems with the sound at the Blue Stage all day anyways.
Here is a rollcall of acts we unfortunately did not get to see:

*2ManyDJs (Was getting too late, had to go to work early the next day)
And on the train home we were treated to people singing on the train. How's this for a twisted version of AC/DC's 'Long Way to the Top' - "It's a long way to the Cross if you wanna find a ho, It's a long way to the shop if you wanna sausage roll."

Lol, the guy on the train was classic.
If i had the opportunity again, i'd probably skip the blue stage (or go very prepared to mosh), and go to the smaller acts (such as cut copy etc) instead.
mountain goats, mountain goats, mountain goats! have a think :P
that sounded like a heaps of fun :)
i think i might try and save somse moneyt o go to these things :P
