Parramatta Girls @ the Belvoir
My lead actress for 'Glory', Annie Byron was in 'Parramatta Girls', and it was the most excellent, saddest, depressing play I've ever seen - but incredibly brilliant.
It was based on real-life accounts of 'deviant' girls who were sent to a girls' home, and the abuse they suffered at the hands of the adults there is just incredibly depraved.
A few minutes both after the intermission and the interval we all just couldn't talk or look at each other, the material was so heavy going, I got teary at some bits, and it was just profoundly affecting.
We went out for drinks after, but there was no spark, nothing to keep us going for the night. We were depressed!
However, on a lighter note, before the play we did have some really nice Lebanese food at Nada's ... go there for the Turkish delight, twas beautiful stuff!
