holidays! (day one)
movies that you HAVE To see:
*thumbsucker - our tutor gave us free passes, and we only went because it was free, but it was actually pretty good.
*me, you and everyone else we know - it's rated R18+, but really its not very naughty or violent. Some strange behaviour does go on, but its hilarious ("The same poop. Forever.")
newtown dendy has become a favourite of mine just cause you have all these restaurants and shops open really late at night. i've decided that i'm not really into pubs though, some of them just look dirty. i like the trendy, loud music, young crowd type places ... i'm embarassed now to admit that i do go to greenwood, metro and all those up at nth sydney because i know all those are the just-turned-18 places with the slutty girls in minidresses with fake ids. also, I usually drink vodka and raspberry, so sue me. I do need better taste. so i'm looking to explore into the city, and I want someone to educate me, take me to cockle bay wharf or along george st. any takers?
one scary thing happened last night though. we went inside newtown hotel to catch a glimpse of the drag show that was going on. literally all the gay guys looked at us three girls and started to give us the 'you-don't-belong-here' stares. We left like two minutes later.

Newtown Dendy is so dark and quiet! I like it because whenever I go it isn't busy, so you don't have to put up with people talking and laughing through the movie (like the yobs at Hville).
I would love to come along for the ride while you get educated. I think I need some edufication myself. (I'm so naive).

I was actually going to ask you to educate me too...and take me into the new world of 'the other side of the bridge' =P please take me...
i like newtown dendy too-- the shops that lead up to it on both sides are really cool ---u don't get the teenage girls and boys who are dressed in clothes that are way too grown up for them ..and there are never heaps of people lining up for tickets or food... AND there are no noisy arcade game machines!

Donna, Pontoon and Home at cockle bay are crap (according to everyone i've asked).
I'm going to Bungalow 8 (king st wharf) on Wed and Le Panic (Kings Cross) on Sunday... i'll tell you how it goes.
I have also been told i MUST go to purple sneakers at the Abercrombie o n a friday night.. they play alternative and indie (the sort we like) and it's meant to absolutely rock. So i think i will organise that some time these holidays.
Oh and for some reason i'm going to the Pulse festival at the Gaelic Club this saturday ... it's a heavy metal/industrial festival with Many Machines on Nine, and um... some other... heavy metal acts. Hope it's good. Heh.

hey soph, tell me how le panic is ... apparently it's pretty good. i'm going to the abercrombie on tues ... i've heard that everyone at purple sneakers is apparently off their faces, so i'm slightly scared of going there.
btw (and this is esp for rena & leana), there are plans to go to greenwood, metro & cabana on thurs night for me and uni friends, so you can tag along if you want. i'm thinking of staying over at a friend's house though ... and I honestly don't know how to get home without an approx. $55 taxi fare. so you may have to organise your own transport...(trains don't run beyond 12pm) nth sydney is a bitch.
do they only play indie/alternative on fri nights? that's the impression i got.
probably. i'm just going there for drinks on tues, and although i won't be expecting indie music it would be sorta nice. and it does look dirty from the outside doesn't it!
friday nights at the abercrombie!! wheee! i really wanna go to that! *cries* three more exams... i aint doing so well this semester..what happened??? sigh.
anyway, greenwood doesnt sound so appealing since discovering that there are djs out there like the supports for the presets who played great alt-rock-indie dance music. i think they play regularly at club 77 in kings cross. i wanna go there. also that place on pitt st..what was it called? near town hall station..with the restaurant? minx? mink? kink? hmm...
also, spectrum and chinese laundry ive heard loads about, if any of these interest you, let me know!

lol.. why do these places have such interesting names?
are they all references about the owner? or the drinks they serve? or the vibe at the place?
i've honestly never heard of any of these places.. and i was telling my mum about my plan to go and be 'educated' AND she's not happy about anything past 10.30 ..have to be at home by 11ish unless it's a sleepover UGH! so there goes my big plan... but keep me posted on any outings.. will try my best to go to at least 1..
also-- any ideas about New Years Eve? please email me..
Doesn't look like i'll be going to the Pulse festival... guy who was going to buy tickets left it too late and they sold out :P
Oh well. Going to see Wolf Creek instead.
