celebrity non-events!

Us film students have lives filled with glamour! celebrities! bright lights! Here's three celebrity non-events of the week:

  • Veg & I saw Axle 'flasher' Whitehead in Kensington St, next to the Clare! He was being filmed for something, so I suppose he's having another go at presenting. Veg & I tried to be very cool and not look at them, then started giggling afterwards. Hee hee.

  • I saw Kamahl in the ABC lobby today, when I was just coming back from my lunch break! Kamahl! That beats both seeing Don Burke and also Julian Morrow at the ABC. Anyway, those Chaser guys are everywhere. Gen claims to have seen all of them at one point on her walks to uni.

  • I'm secretly stalking Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin because my favourite group of Germans and my favourite producer live next door to him! I've been over to see them many times this week...but no Baz or Cath popping in to borrow a cup of sugar.

when an old piece of clothing doesn't love you anymore...

My cargo shorts from my tennis days don't fit me anymore! I haven't worn them in two years, but they refuse to button around the waist AND allow me to breathe and eat.

    Horror! Shock! Disbelief!

I'm the sort of person who has clothes from Year 9 and they still FIT. I probably ever only had one growth spurt, which brought me just over 155cm tall, and then cruelly, stopped.

Need to go shopping for new shorts (haha, you thought I was going to make a resolution to exercise more! Well, maybe. Someday) and swimmers 'cause a friend of mine is having a pool party and my current swimmers in their big-patterned swirlyness make me look like a 70s tragic.

    krrrispy kremes!

Was blog stalking recently and found this hilarious post about Krispy Kremes.

It took me back to Year 12 of high school when we had our Krispy Kreme fundraiser day. I'd just had a really terrible maths test earlier, and I ate 5 Krispy Kremes, the glazed ones, to soothe my pain (I was also violently sick the next day).

I bought a box to take home, so my parents could also enjoy the sweet, sweet sugariness of a Krispy Kreme donut. I was walking home and I was stopped by a couple of boys, who CIRCLED me and demanded that I give them one of the donuts for free.

You're kidding me right? Right? What kind of madness is this?!

I refuse to give them a donut for free, and they became more insistent. I was thinking, hoping that they wouldn't beat up a girl over a Krispy Kreme, so I decided to SELL a donut to them. For $1.

And they agreed! I mean, what kind of bullies are these?

Hmmm, I should have probably exorted more money from them, rather than just charging cost price.

    sniffle sniffle...

    Films I've cried in:
  • Grave of the Fireflies
  • Rabbit Proof Fence
  • Letters to Ali

Films one of my friends (anonymous) has cried in:
  • Catch Me If You Can
  • Black Beauty
  • Charlotte's Web
  • Titanic
  • Ever After
  • Brother Bear

Another friend (also anonymous) cried in:
  • Open Season
  • Kris Kringle @ Kylie's & 3rd Rock

Yeah, we know Christmas was half a month ago, but it's a tradition that we celebrate later! Kylie was my Kris Kringle and she got me a 1GB SD card as well as an Oxfam Unwrapped gift that helps refuges for women in PNG.

3rd Rock Cafe in Beverly Hills had very yummy food, with some weird and wonderful drinks like the mangolaide (mango & lemonade ... but it tasted like coke?) and the cookies and cream milkshake!

Then we went back to Ky's and played poker (not with real money), which was excellent fun. Ky ended up with tonnes of chips, wobbly stacks of chips!

Also we had mango pudding! Fruit platters! All yum, and courtesy of Ky's mum was a great dessert.

On the brink of bankruptcy after some silly $200/$300 raises, I went all in once ($60), and won ... I think that's when I really got addicted.

I think we're going back to Ky's soon for another poker night, but Bon did promise to break our legs if we didn't pay bank loans back soon though...

Thanks to Ky for organising the whole event, and Leana for organising the Kris Kringle.

    child of the 80s

Yeah, I go on and on about my pretentious indie music taste. But what I'm listening to right now is daggy top 40 80s pop ... and I loves it!

Ever since I watched Footloose, I've been obsessed with Deniece Williams' 'Let's Hear It for the Boy'. Also on the playlist is MJ with 'Smooth Criminal', Prince 'Kiss' and 'When Doves Cry'. Though, I could probably save a bit of face with Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill'.

    Any suggestions for my playlist?

    Modest Mouse @ the Enmore

Saw Modest Mouse last night! Good fun. Leana, Johanna, Soph and I ate dinner at Thai Pothong ... where for some mysterious reason, the waitress took my - and only my plate! I guess she didn't know we were sharing food - or she's like "No food for you, you don't deserve any!"

Modest Mouse set was good, but not overly spectacular. The energy was there, specially from the band, but the breaks they'd take between songs would lose the momentum a bit. Also, something was up with the speakers, because every once in a while they'd distort.

Never been in the mid-section of the Enmore before (when they take the seats out), but I got a pretty good view, despite dodging several cases of the curse of the kissing couples (when you have a view of the stage between two people's heads, and they kiss, and your view is gone)

In other news, I passed TAFE! Yay! I now have a Certificate IV in Business Management - what I'll do with it, I don't know. One year of torture OVER!

Also, looking for a location for my shoot, and getting quite desperate now. I need the shabby interior of a house (living room/hallway/bathroom) for 3 February. Help me out if you know some place. Even if you silently stalk this blog, please leave me a message - I need help!
